How do you Control or Kill water bugs in a swimming pool ?

This is our first pool and we just opened it for the summer. We have treated the water with chlorine tablets and shock. I notice alot of surface bugs and some bottom swimmers. Is there any way to control them. How do you Control or Kill water bugs in a swimming pool ?
You need to maintain free/total chlorine levels of 3-5ppm. This will make the water uninhabitable for them and they will vacate the pool in a hurry. It will kill some of them but drive off the rest and they won't return with this proper level of chlorine.

Having a higher chlorine level means you are going to need a different chemistry level to your pool so feel free to drop me a line at robandliz1992@yahoo.com and I'll put together a tailored chemistry schedule for your pool. Please include the gallon size, material it's made of, chlorination system, filtration system, and chemicals you've used in the last couple weeks.

If you can please send the results for the following (take a sample of water to your pool store to have them test this if you are unable to do it at home):

Total chlorine

Free chlorine

Combined chlorine

pH

Alkalinity

Hardness

Cyanuric acid

Total dissolved solids

Metals

Phosphates

With these results and the above information we can get you on the right track to a pristine and healthy pool year round. Please don't purchase any products from the pool store though as the chemicals they sell are expensive compared to their home use equivalents which are exactly the same only far less expensive. How do you Control or Kill water bugs in a swimming pool ?
I was going to suggest both of those, but a net would work for the surface bugs, and as for the bottom swimmers you could try a vacuum.
